I’m usually not very adventurous with food and do not try new dishes unless my usual favorites are not available. I happened to be at Orchard Central today and decided, maybe I’ll try something new. I went up to the top floor (level 12) and discovered a Japanese Restaurant call Kuriya Penthouse.

The restaurant was very posh, the service was fantastic and it had a great view of the city. I had an 8-course dinner that started with a cocktail and ended with a basket of fruits from Japan and Japanese mousse deserts. The dishes were mostly very interesting in taste; very different from the stuff I usually eat. The dish I really enjoyed was Kinki Nitsuke. This was the first time I ate a Kinki fish. From what I understand, it is a very expensive fish from Japan. It was sweet and felt like it melted in my mouth as I ate it. It’s now the favorite fish to eat on my list.

Besides the great meal, there was also a magician that would offer to show magic tricks.
